Note 1. Parts of Lower Kasakela Valley were almost inpenetrable. We were surprised and amused one day to find this trail carved by some of the staff through Lower Kasakela. The trail was wide enough to drive a truck through, yet it slanted so steeply to the side that you had to hold on to the vegetation to keep from slipping. David and I referred to it affectionately as the Saidi Memorial Highway.
